Mother’s Day

My prayer for you today is simple: “Be loved.”

For many years as a mother, I would pray and ask God, “What should I do?” or “What do you want me to do?” I desperately wanted Him to give me the plans so that I could be prepared for the future, and get my life together! But it was only when He began to show me who I was that I started to know what to do.

As mothers, our number one identity is not as a “mother,” but as a “daughter”—a daughter of God. And our #1 job is to be loved as a daughter. One of my favorite verses is from Psalm 45:

“Listen, daughter! Look closely! Turn your ear toward me.
Forget your people, and forget your father’s house.
The King longs for your beauty. He is your Lord. Worship Him…
The King’s daughter is all glorious within;
her clothing is interwoven with gold.”

Leaning into that “gold” inside of you is the goal. It’s the all-encompassing answer to any prayers — because knowing you are His daughter and that He loves you is all you need to know. Jeremiah 1:5 says,

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew and approved of you as my chosen instrument,
and before you were born,
I separated and set you apart, consecrating you…”

Not only does He love you deeply, He approves of you. He doesn’t see your mistakes and flaws. He sees the righteousness of Jesus when He looks at you. You can walk in and enjoy this place of approval every day and every moment! It’s our right as a daughter. So, trade in all your worries, sorrow and sighing…
and be loved!

And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. –Isaiah 32:17

This PEACE is what deepens our heart and opens up WHO WE REALLY ARE! Leaning into the Father’s love and approval of you as His daughter gives you the security you’ve been longing for. You’ll have peace in your heart and will naturally know how to love those in your household.

The next time you’re in the middle of a struggle, challenge, disappointment or fear—If you will lean in and hear Him say, “You are mine. You are all gold within. I desire you. I love you right now and right here,” it will change that moment for you! YOU will be changed! Your perspective of whatever you’re facing will change! So run into the Father’s LOVE as a young daughter runs into her father’s arms. He is the Counselor of all counselors, the Therapist of all therapists, the Husband of all husbands, the Father of all fathers… and He’s there for you. He’ll never change his mind about you. He’ll show you mercy every morning, because that’s who He is: LOVE. Be loved today and every day! Happy Mother’s Day!
