Dearest Mothers,

Here are 3 things I want you to know on this special Mother’s Day….

First, YOU are God’s idea. The Father thought of YOU. He knew YOU—before YOU were in YOUR mother’s womb. Think of it…YOU are the creation of HIS heart. He made you special and unique—unlike any other. He loves every part of you: spirit, soul and body. Never think negatively about yourself—ever. Embrace the fact that He thinks about you all the time—with more thoughts than the grains of sand on the seashore! His love and compassion for you is unmeasurable, unlimited, and beyond what you can imagine. (Jer. 1:5; Psalm 139)

Secondly, here’s an important secret you need to know: YOU are already loved and approved by God. Accept this! Before God asks you to show compassion and care for your children, He asks that you accept His compassionate love for YOU. The degree of our ability to love others depends on the degree we accept His love for us. When we are most unhappy with ourselves, we are the most critical of others. In your moments of personal failure, hurt and disappointment, become caring and compassionate towards yourself. Lean into His love, let Him touch you with His affectionate kindness and clothe you with His robe of righteousness. Receive His lovely perspective of YOU—perfect, flawless and approved—and suddenly you will see the whole world that way, too. You will be transformed and become the most unjudgmental, kind, and loving mother of all. (Is. 54:4; Rom. 5:1,5; 2 Cor. 5:17,21; Matt. 17:5)

Finally, there is never a need to compare yourself to others. Would you take a ruler outside to measure the temperature? Then why would you measure and evaluate yourself by what others have or are experiencing? Let go of preconceived ideas and expectations of your life and your children. Let God write His story. He is the architect and builder of their lives. Believe what God says about your children and speak God’s promises over them. After all, they were God’s idea, too.
